Book of Voices

Album artwork, record packaging, and merchandise design for Muco’s 2025 album Book of Voices, as well as a full-length animated music video.

Influenced by his English and East African heritage, Muco’s Book of Voices captures the interconnectedness of folk traditions across cultures. Pulling from medieval poems, prayers, charms, and lullabies, Muco reveals shared themes of our relationship with the natural world, love, joy, and sadness.

For the packaging design, I emphasized the dualities within the tracklist: summer and winter, life and death, light and dark. The split color palette is aided by folk imagery of nature, astrological symbols, and medieval ornaments to visualize the album’s historic and hauntingly beautiful sound.

For the video, I created a scrolling tableau of medieval imagery inspired by the record-keeping tradition of early English tapestries. I hand drew a large suite of illustrations that come together to form a narrative of nature, village life, battle, and myth.
Just like the chorus of the song, the character of the bird reappears throughout the video and carries the story forward.
